Visalia, CA (May 5, 2010) – With no end in site for the crude oil leaking into the Gulf, one California company has high hopes that their EPA-listed oil spill cleanup product will be used by BP to break down the oil. EPA testing showed that BioWorld Hydrocarbon Treatment achieved a 97% reduction for digestion of crude oil in just 28 days, one of the best results to date for any oil spill cleanup product.
"BioWorld Hydrocarbon Treatment can be applied to rapidly degrade oil without harm to humans, fish or wildlife. Our enhanced bioremediation provides significant improvements over the traditional bioremediation method of just adding fertilizer; And the by products are completely safe for the environment," said Don Damschen, Vice President of BioWorld.
A key advantage to BioWorld’s product is that unlike traditional treatments, which can be toxic to wildlife and merely cause the oil to sink below the surface, it consists of bioenhancers and natural organisms that actually digest the oil and help preserve marine habitats. It can be applied by boats, fixed-wing airplanes and helicopters over open water or spray rigs on the shoreline.
"We believe that BP has a responsibility to protect the environment by using Green products to clean up this oil spill. By using BioWorld, BP would be able to effectively clean up the oil and avoid causing further harm to fish and wildlife. By expediting cleanup of the oil, especially along shorelines and beaches, in wetlands and marsh areas, the ecosystem can be returned to its pristine condition in weeks or months, not years," said Damschen.
